The Beginning of Finn Verci in Eorzea – Gridania Origins

Long before anyone in Gridania knew the name Finn Verci, a small, quiet Lalafell would appear from the forests now and then — always alone, always carrying something odd on his errands: bundles of herbs not grown in the Shroud, rare moss scraped from forgotten ruins, sometimes fish caught without bait or net.

He was known only as “the Tonberry boy” by those few who saw him. Most didn’t.

The Tonberries, for reasons unknown, had begun sending him into Gridania on small errands. They never came themselves. Whether this was a gesture of trust, curiosity, or something else entirely, no one could say — and Finn never offered more than the minimum words needed to complete a task. But it was enough to draw notice.

The Lancer’s Guild, known for its practical training and use of local recruits, saw in him an efficient, if unusual, candidate. Light on his feet. Calm under pressure. Never asked unnecessary questions. They invited Finn to join them, and he took up their offer.

And so, quietly, Finn began his training with the spear.
